About Shore Memorial Hospital
For more than 60 years, Shore Memorial Hospital has been a healthcare leader in our region introducing many "firsts" to the area, and establishing our reputation as a premier provider of medical, surgical, pediatric and obstetrical services. Shore Memorial Hospital, the flagship of the System, is a not-for-profit, 296 licensed-bed medical facility that has grown to become a regional leader in high-technology, leading-edge acute care. With more than 35 medical and surgical specialties, over 350 of the region's finest doctors and 1,600 employees dedicated to serving you, Shore Memorial offers a level of medical, surgical and nursing care comparable to that offered at major metropolitan teaching hospitals.
Shore Memorial has a clinical affiliation with the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). This gives Shore Memorial doctors and their patients the benefit of clinical research, educational resources, and a seamless healthcare connection between the two health systems. In addition, Shore Memorial's Cancer Center is a participant in the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Network. As a member, Shore Memorial patients have access to the latest in cancer research, education, treatment and clinical trials. In 2004, Shore Memorial and UPHS entered into a second agreement that enables cardiologists from Penn Cardiac Care to provide low-risk cardiac catheterization services on-site in the Shore Memorial CardioVascular Institute (CVI). Through that arrangement, Shore physicians and the CVI cardiovascular team collaborate with Penn cardiologists to provide comprehensive care of the heart and circulatory system for patients in the southern New Jersey area. Most recently, Penn and Shore Memorial entered into a clinical affiliation to provide expanded neurological and neurosurgical services and programs for the residents of the southern New Jersey shore communities. As part of the agreement, Penn’s Neurological Institute will serve as an extension of Shore Memorial’s Neuroscience Center in the delivery of neurological care — including interdisciplinary evaluation services, advanced diagnostic testing, advanced surgical technology, specialized neurological critical-care treatment, and access to the latest clinical research trials. The agreement provides that Shore Memorial will become an affiliate of the Penn Neurological Institute. In addition, Shore Memorial will have direct access to Penn’s full range of innovative preventative, diagnostic, and treatment services — such as skull-base surgery and interventional radiology — for a wide range of diseases and disorders, including epilepsy, head injury, memory disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, spine disorders, and stroke.
Shore Memorial is also part of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Inpatient Network. Through this relationship CHOP pediatricians and neonatologists are available to pediatric inpatients and emergency patients, and assist Shore physicians in high-risk births, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. This service provides Shore Memorial physicians with additional expertise and around-the-clock physician attention to their hospitalized patients. Shore Memorial's Maternity and Pediatric Care Centers offer a family-friendly environment, specialized nursing, a Pediatric Surgical Program and a Child Life Program. |
