Application Procedure

Applications for the Shore Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology are only accepted each year during open enrollment, January 2nd through March 31st. All applicant information must be received no later than March 31st. If all documentation is not received by this date, applicant will be automatically disqualified for enrollment.

Application packets will only be mailed during the open enrollment period. Beginning in January, applicants may call the school, verify they have completed the prerequisite courses and then request an application packet.

Then applicants may submit or have the following information sent to:

  1. The completed application for admission
  2. A non-refundable application fee of $50 made payable to Shore Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology
  3. An official high school transcript or GED
  4. Official college transcript(s)
  5. Resume
  6. Technical Standards Form
  7. Tuition Payment Agreement Options Form
  8. Three completed Reference Letter Forms - References should be from an employer or someone who knows you in a professional or student capacity; no family members or friends. The completed reference form must be in a sealed envelope with the signature of the individual over the sealed part of the envelope.
  9. A personal essay (typed and double-spaced). Select one of the following topics for the essay:
    • Describe an experience or an individual that has had a significant effect on your life.
    • Describe an experience that you had to overcome to succeed.
    • Describe the circumstances that led you to become interested in a career in diagnostic imaging.

Pre-admission Test

Applicants with completed files will receive information scheduling them for the program's pre-admission test. The test is administered at Shore Memorial Hospital. The program's Pre-admission test is designed by the Psychological Services Bureau, Inc. Information and a sampling of the pre-admission test contents for the PSB-Health Occupations Aptitude Examination may be found at this website.

Applicants are required to obtain a percentile score of 25 or higher in each of the five categories on the pre- admission test. Test results will be mailed to the applicant.

Interview

Applicants successfully completing the program's pre-admission test with a percentile score of 25 or higher in each of the five test categories will be scheduled for an interview with the program's selection committee.

Program Acceptance

Acceptance to the program is based on the results of the pre-admission test, academic transcripts, recommendations, essay and interview. Applicants will receive notification of their status through the mail. Accepted applicants will receive an acceptance agreement, a tuition agreement and information concerning a criminal background review.

Accepted applicants will be contacted and scheduled for a physical examination and drug test by the Shore Memorial Hospital Employee Health Department.

The accepted applicant's ability to participate in the program is contingent on the results of the drug test and the results of the criminal background review.
