The Auxiliary of Shore Memorial Hospital

Shore Memorial’s Auxiliary is the original hospital fundraising organzation with a legacy stretching back to the hospital’s founding in 1940.

Currently 250 members strong, the Auxiliary has a long and impressive history of support. Auxiliary funds have helped build new expansions and buy new equipment for six decades.

The impact of the hard work of the past and present Auxiliary membership cannot be overstated. Over the past 30 years, the Auxiliary has contributed more than $6 million. Recent gifts include a $2 million commitment to the Legacy Campaign for the new CardioVascular Institute; $2 million for the expanded Critical Care Center; $1 million for the Pediatric Center and $500,000 for the Cancer Center.

Other gifts have supported maternity care, endoscopy, diagnostic imaging, education and nursing fellowships.

The Auxiliary generates its charitable revenues from the Gift Shop, located in the hospital; the Thrift Shop, located in Somers Point and the annual Golf Tournament; the annual Fashion Show; and from countless raffles, sales and community events held throughout the year.

Among the hardest working volunteers in southern New Jersey, Auxiliary members have a lot of fun, too. It’s a wonderful forum for social interaction, meeting new friends and associating with some of the areas most successful and dynamic professionals.
