Last Year's “Project Surgery” raised $1.1 million for
exciting new medical technology in Shore Memorial's operating suites.
Our new advanced anesthesia systems and patient monitors in the post
anesthesia care unit are now in operation, serving thousands of patients
annually.
This year's campaign will bring the most advanced imaging technology
to the Shore Memorial Cancer Center. This next generation PET/CT scanner
identifies even the smallest lesions using radioisotopes to identify
tumors and track the treatment progress. Together with the introduction
of Image Guided Radiation Therapy, funded by the RNS Cancer and Heart
Fund, the PET/CT will enable respiratory gating to "follow" the
changing position of tumors as patients breathe for more accurate eradication.
