Shore Memorial Hospital

Emergency Services

Whether it's a sprained ankle from a run on the boardwalk or a life-threatening heart attack, it’s comforting to know the emergency staff at Shore Memorial is ready, willing and able to help.

Shore emergency department physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine, with training in everything from obstetrics and pediatrics to orthopedics and cardiology. In addition, each one of Shore's specially trained nurses is certified in the latest life-saving techniques and emergency care.

The staff uses a triage system to ensure the most serious injuries and illnesses are treated first. When the emergency room is particularly crowded, initial treatment and diagnostic tests may begin in the waiting room.

With the latest medical procedures and equipment at their fingertips, Shore’s emergency staff still stresses old-fashioned caring. A patient liaison has recently been added to further smooth emergency room visits, helping visitors with everything from finding hot coffee to arriving at patients’ bedsides as soon as possible.
