Guidance for Information Resources Regarding Emergency Management

Diseases included on information lists vary from site to site. If you don’t find something on one site, check another one. All sites present information in both English and Spanish.

1. New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services
   www.state.nj.us/health/
   Home page includes “In Our Spotlight” box listing current topics. Site also provides listing of state “programs & services,” under that heading click “environmental health,” then click “communicable diseases” for fact sheets. (Partial list attached) You may need an “Acrobat Reader” program to access info on this site.
2. Center for Disease Control and Prevention
   www.cdc.gov/ncidod/
   Contains up-to-date information about nearly a hundred different diseases, includes fact sheets and images of infectious agents, links to other sources.
3. National Foundation for Infectious Diseases
   www.nfid.org/
   Provides general information on infectious diseases and fact sheets, includes links to other sources.
4. U.S. Food and Drug Administration
   www.fda.gov/
   Provides general information on food safety, info about Nat’l Food Safety Initiative, links to other sites.
5. Food Safety Fight BAC! Campaign
   www.fightbac.org
   The web site of the Partnership for Food Safety Education, a coalition of industry government and consumer groups. It provides information geared to help reduce the incidence of food-borne illness, includes general information, educational artwork, a chart of least wanted food-born pathogens, prevention tips, and many links to other sites.
6. Association of State and Territorial Directors
   of Health Promotion and Public Health Education
   www.ASTDHPPHE.org
   Provides fact sheets on numerous infectious diseases as well as sample press releases and sample emergency management information.
