Diagnostic Digital Radiography/ Fluoroscopy

Routine X-rays are available in the hospital's radiology department and at the outpatient-testing facility in our Health & Conference Center across the street from the main building on Shore Road. Fluoroscopy procedures, myelogram and cystogram exams are performed in the hospital's radiology department.

Walk-ins for routine X-rays are welcome; however, you should schedule multiple studies to avoid waiting.

Fluoroscopic exams, requiring you to refrain from eating, are scheduled in the morning. Preps are provided.

Myelograms, cystograms and other special studies that don't require fasting, are usually scheduled in the afternoon.

Studies are coordinated to provide you with the highest quality patient care and comfort.

Diagnostic Women's Services – Mammography/DEXA Scans

In 2002, The Shore Memorial Center for Women's Health became the first facility in southern New Jersey to offer full-field digital mammography. In 2004, our diagnostic imaging department became the first facility in the region to be accredited by the American College of Radiology for full-field digital mammography.

In 2004, Shore Memorial installed CADX software to complement our digital mammography system. In addition to having at least two board-certified radiologists review your mammogram, CADX provides a third set of eyes for
each mammography.

Leading-edge Digital Mammography at Shore
Committed to providing quality healthcare for southern New Jersey residents, Shore Memorial Hospital joins an elite community of medical centers offering full-field digital mammography (FFDM). The Senographe 2000D mammography from GE Medical Systems is the only system of its kind in the area. Fewer than 500 locations around the world offer this breakthrough technology, including just six medical centers in New Jersey.

Shore's low dose units provide the earliest possible detection of breast cancer. Our dedicated suite offers privacy and the sensitivity of a caring, specially-trained and certified staff

Women receiving mammograms at our Women’s Center will be in and out faster, since there is no wait to develop films. The digital mammogram has the ability to generate images in near-real time, within 10-15 seconds. The monitor displays a high quality image providing the technologist with quick verification of correct patient positioning.

Once images have been taken, they can be electronically manipulated by the radiologist who can zoom in, magnify, and optimize different parts of breast tissue without bringing a patient back for additional images. Use of the zoom improves detection of micro calcifications and the inverted image contributes to better interpretation.

The breakthrough technology of digital system is the first single-piece, flat panel detector approved for clinical use. The detector is higher than traditional film and screen combinations, especially near the skin line and in dense breasts. As a result, the detector offers exceptional detectability, while maintaining low dose.

For information about FFDM, contact Shore Memorial’s diagnostic imaging department at 609-653-3555, or call the hospitals’ Center for Women’s Health at 609-653-3900.
