Accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the hospital's laboratory has testing capabilities to provide full blood chemistry and coagulation studies, cancer cell testing, microbiology, urinalysis, therapeutic drug monitoring and more.
This important new-generation cancer diagnostic tool, available in this region only at Shore Memorial, is more powerful than a microscope. It performs DNA analysis on tumors with laser-assisted cell counters to determine the degree of malignancy and help doctors precisely determine the tumor's stage and course of treatment.
Only thoroughly tested blood is provided to patients through the hospital's carefully monitored program in cooperation with the Red Cross Regional Blood Program.
The American Red Cross, in conjunction with Shore Memorial Hospital, offers patients facing surgery the option with medical approval, to make an autologous donation of their own blood for later use or, under the Directed Donation Program, have blood donated on their behalf. The service is offered by appointment.
For information on Autologous Donations, call the Red Cross at 1-800-35-BLOOD.
For information on direct donations call the hospital's Blood Bank at 609-653-3577, extension 4905.
