Kidney Disease

The kidneys are remarkable organs, responsible for removing waste and fluid from the body. The kidneys also regulate chemicals in our blood such as sodium, potassium, phosphorus and calcium. They release hormones that help the body regulate blood pressure and make red blood cells. With all the important work they do, it is important that we do what we can to keep our kidneys in good working order.

Shore Memorial Hospital offers Wellness and other programs to keep our bodies healthy. For those at risk for kidney disease, especially those with diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, there is the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Program that is designed to maintain optimal kidney function. Additionally, the hospital also offers outpatient dialysis for patients in need of this service.
