Part of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Inpatient Network
The CHOP Inpatient Program at Shore Memorial began in August of 1999 and provides area families with the highly specialized inpatient care that The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is known for around the world, in the convenient and reassuring setting of your local community hospital. Under this agreement, Children's Hospital-affiliated pediatricians offer 24-hour-a-day inpatient pediatric and newborn care at Shore Memorial. These physicians support Shore Memorial's pediatricians and obstetricians in the care of their patients.
"This program is designed with children and families in mind." said Steven Altschuler, MD, physician-in-chief at Children's Hospital. "With the CHOP Inpatient Program at Shore Memorial Hospital, parents find a child-friendly atmosphere that makes a hospital stay less intimidating. Parents can be assured that their child is in a special place where the staff are not only dedicated to helping kids get well but to making the whole family feel better." "The aim of the program is to provide full in-hospital coverage for problems that may arise, to support practicing pediatricians and obstetricians and to provide assistance for pediatric emergency cases," said Dr. Ira Wertheimer, medical director of the CHOP Inpatient Program at Shore Memorial. Shore Memorial and Children's Hospital collaborate in pediatric primary and secondary care, managed care, clinical and educational relationships, enabling Shore Memorial to provide area children with the highest level of 24-hour pediatric medical care in the region, including:
